Oscar was inside the big box, in pieces.
He was in pieces until someone put him all together.
There were ropes and poles and ladders and other parts.
The guys in the green shirts checked him out. But then they all left in the big truck.
They said, ‘He is All Set and Ready To GO!”. Oscar did Not know where to go.
He decided to follow the truck. He thought he might belong with other big trucks.
On the road he could meet some other friendly trucks with a big tire like his.
that did not belong on the road. He made a traffic jam.But they were not friendly. One truck told Oscar that he did not belong on the road. He made a big traffic jam.
Oscar was sad. He stepped off onto the green grass by a pond. There were boats bobbing in water, having fun. They had poles and ropes like he did.
Maybe he was a sailboat. The water looked like fun.
.He stepped into the water. He splashed around. Oscar was happy. But then he began to sink. “MUD!” said the fish. “I am not a boat!” said Oscar.
He pulled his pole out of the mud and walked back to the grass. Oscar was sad. Then he hear the whistle of a train nearby. It sounded happy.
“Aha!” thought Oscar. He stepped onto two hard tracks. He would not sink into mud here. Then the train split and one part went one way and the other part went a different way. Oscar stopped following. He was All Set and Ready to Go, he did not want to become pieces again. He was not a train.
His red top hat began to spin. It was his thinking cap. The harder he thought the faster it spun until it lifted him up into the sky, Oscar was flying, like a plane. Two little birds landed on him. They wanted to know why he was in their sky. Oscar told them that he did not know where to go.
Then they flew into a dark cloud. Oscar grew scared but the birds told him to follow them, they knew where to go. Oscar followed the birds. They took him back to the Tot Lot! Oscar was sad. Then the children came out and saw him.
They hopped and ran and jumped and climbed all over Oscar. They called him a Truck, a Boat, a Train, a Plane, but the best was when they called him a big red, blue, and yellow Robot! Oscar was very happy.
